European Institute for Gender Equality is calling for applications for next year's 12 women to figure in the "Women Inspiring Europe" Calendar. The idea is to show women with i.e. different behavior, acting and thinking out of the gender box and evidence of achieving recognition and visibility.
European Institute for Gender Equality, EIGE, is to launch a calender with 12 European women to act as role-models and a source of inspiration for others in its future "Women of Europe" resource pool.
"The resource pool will be used by EIGE and its stakeholders in search of realistic evidence of success in the form of testimonials, expert or speaker interventions. Over time as the activity gains momentum, the 'Women of Europe' resource pool will become an integral part of the Institute's resource centre pooling experience and bringing recognition to their achievements," EIGE states on the institute's home page.
"Among the women who have applied or have been nominated for the resource pool, every year 12 women will figure in the "Women Inspiring Europe" Calendar. Via this initiative EIGE aims to give visibility and pay homage to some of Europe's most remarkable women, through highlighting their achievements and success stories.
The calendar of 2011 is now finalised.
"The resource pool will be used by EIGE and its stakeholders in searech of realistic evidence of success in the form of testimolials, expert or speaker intervenentions," says EIGE director Virginija Langbakk in a letter.
The institute is located in Instituttet er placeret i Lithuaen and has a budget of 52.5 m euro (2007-13) and muast research data, create dialog between stakeholders and raise public awareness.
How to participate The Institute encourages nominations from and about women active in all professional spheres, who set positive examples for women in Europe.
A Woman can either nominate herself or can be nominated based on any of the following: 1. How the nominee believes she has managed to break stereotypes about women. (i.e. behaving in an unusual way, producing innovative ideas); 2. How the nominee believes she achieved visibility and recognition by way of her actions. 3. How the nominee believes she has contributed to her society and to other women in particular.
"The application/nomination should be written in English and can be written by the nominees themselves or another person/organisation is able to put forward her nomination. It should also include a short biography (including evidence about her achievements), contact details, a high resolution photo, as well as a third-party recommendation. This information will be used for internal needs only. Before publishing any information the Institute will contact the nominee to agree on any information which goes public."
