Average age of women on TV increases

The average age of women on UK TV is increasing, according to new research by Radio Times!

A survey of over 800 leading performers and presenters on primetime TV across the last six decades shows the average age of female presenters in the 7:00-10:30pm slot has leapt from 32 years and seven months in 1950 to 40 years and two months in 2010. Meanwhile, the average age of male stars has remained relatively static at around 46 years.

The figures follow much public debate regarding the perceived lack of older women in broadcasting.
